SELECT Command

The SELECT Command

SELECT retrieves data from tables. It is the most used SQL command.
SELECT * FROM students;            -- all columns
SELECT name, marks FROM students; -- specific columns

With Conditions

SELECT name, marks FROM students
WHERE marks >= 90;
Returns only students scoring 90 or more.

Sorting Results

SELECT name, marks FROM students
ORDER BY marks DESC;

Summary

  • SELECT * = all columns; list columns for specific ones.
  • WHERE filters, ORDER BY sorts.
